The Evolution of LCD & Digital Signage Advertising
Digital Signage has been around for many years but we are only starting to see the benefits of what Dynamic delivery of ads can accomplish. Some estimates put the penetration on the total commercial LCD television market equipped with Digital Signage at less than 1%. If that is true then the market has a boom time ahead for growth globally.
At ScreenWorks Media we are focused on penetrating the 99% marketplace to enable commercial LCD televisions to expand the marketing footprint but also add a layer of data capture via short code SMS. For example, in May I was having dinner at the Tilted Kilt in San Diego. The restaurant sits adjacent to Petco Park and has upwards of 20 flat screen televisions. On the table was a card to sign up for their “Loyalty Club”. I asked the waitress for a pen and began to fill out my information to join the club. After I finished the 3-4 minute exercise I asked the waitress “Who enters my information into the database?” She politely responded that the manager types the information into their system every morning.
Well that was over a month ago and I still haven’t gotten one piece of “Loyalty Club” marketing. Keep in mind that my office is located in East Village San Diego about 10 blocks from the Tilted Kilt so it would be in their best interest to add me to the club.
There is hope! At ScreenWorks we can develop a program which enables bars and restaurants to advertise around the perimeter of the television AND collect valuable permission based customer data through mobile phones. As this technology grows so will bar and restaurant “Loyalty Clubs.”
